Update January, 2012
Happy New Year! We hope your holidays were the best ever, joyful and peacefilled. As we begin our new year 2012, please be sure to put our Homeowners’ Annual Meeting to be held in our clubhouse on Sunday, January 29, 6:00 p.m. on your calendar. We will be sending out proxies in case you are unable to attend so that we can have a 25% (21 homes) attendance rate in order to have a quorum. It’s always helpful to have a representative from as many homes as possible so that any discussion on BWCA happenings can allow for much input. We want to hear what you think. We will be electing two (2) new Board members (interested?) and we will be reporting on those things done during the past year, those items planned for the coming year and an overall “State of the Subdivision” report.
In early December, we also sent out dues notices which are due January 31, 2012. If you come to the meeting, we’ll be happy to take your check if you haven’t paid by then.
Let’s have a year of homeowner involvement in 2012! If anyone has any ideas for new, renewed or modified happenings in the neighborhood, come to the meeting and let’s hear about it.
Again, Happy 2012! |

from the Board
January 2011
Welcome to the Berkeley Walk website. Our subdivision was initiated in 1994 and lies within the city limits of Berkeley Lake, Georgia, and includes 82 homes, pool, tennis courts and clubhouse. We have mandatory covenants and a homeowner annual fee, which covers all the costs of maintaining our amenities and pristine landscaping.
Berkeley Walk has a Board of Directors elected on a staggering basis with a two- year service commitment. Meetings of the Board are held on the 4th Thursday of each month (except November - 3rd Thursday) and are held in the clubhouse at 7:30 pm. For the year 2011, the Directors and their e-mail addresses are:
President – Barbara Carroll ( c4113073@aol.com )
Vice President – Muriel Davoll - (murieldavoll@comcast.net)
Secretary – Gracita Bond ( gcb008@bellsouth.net )
Treasurer – Jeff Cooper ( jeff@cooperpediatrics.com )
At Large - Dorris Hollingsworth (dorris@hollingshome.us)
There are several social activities held during each year, beginning with our pool-opening celebration held during the Spring. All residents of Berkeley Walk are invited, along with our neighbors in Berkeley Commons, a subdivision that sits adjacent to Berkeley Walk and some of whose residents participate in the right-to-use program of our amenities.
At the time of our pool opening, we ask for 16-18 resident families, willing to be “pool angels”, who commit to going to the pool each night for a week and close it up for the night. Instructions on inclusive close-up items are given to those who volunteer.
Our Covenants Committee drives/walks through the area on a monthly basis and sends out citation letters to residents not in compliance with covenant guidelines. If you receive one of these letters, your neighbors will be grateful if you respond as quickly as possible. If you do not agree with the citation, you may submit your explanation of appeal to the Board so that a resolution can be reached.
Berkeley Walk residents in the process of making any renovation or modification to their property should consult the forms page of this website to determine what forms, if any, or approvals are required prior to the start of any project. Appropriate forms must be submitted in ample time for review and approval. If you are in doubt, please contact the Board via e-mail.
The City of Berkeley Lake has permit capability and is available to residents involved with renovation of their property. Craig Lokey is Berkeley Lake 's building inspector and the “go-to” person who works out of our new City Hall to issue permits for both the City and the County. This relieves Berkeley Lake residents of having to go to Lawrenceville to acquire most building permits. Contact City Hall at 770/368-9484 for more information on permits.
Berkeley Lake holds a twice-yearly Earth Day in April and October. Each Year activities are organized through the City to have residents join in a Clean-up campaign on that day. The City has in the past made available a truck to accept household items, computers, printers, fax machines and copy machines and will handle disposal of these items. Often, items will be upgraded and donated to charitable organizations.
All Berkeley Walk residents are invited to attend Berkeley Lake City Council meetings which are held on the third Thursday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. Citizen comments and input are welcome at the end of each meeting.
Feel free to contact Directors with any questions you may have regarding Berkeley Walk.
